The main tour is offered during the main season, from April to October.
It takes visitors inside the former Cistercian monastery – the Romanesque Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the former residential building, the convent, which represents Santini's art of building on water.
The tour begins in front of the monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which you will then enter with your guide through a preserved Romanesque portal from the 12th century.
After visiting the church, you will move on to the former monks' residential building. You will gradually see the chapter hall, meditation chapel, and hospital wing with an exhibition of pharmacies and unique Baroque toilets. You will also visit the study and library. At the end of the tour, you will learn about the ingenious technical solution of the building's foundations, which were laid on 5,100 oak piles.
You can secure your place in the group by purchasing a ticket online. Tickets can also be purchased on site at the ticket office (Pivovarská 3).
The sightseeing tour is led by a guide and presentation is usually in Czech. However, you can borrow texts with information in German, English or Russian. Guided tours in foreign languages (EN, GE) can be arranged in advance.
